Unbeaten Skyline wins volleyball league opener

The unbeaten Skyline High School girls volleyball team opened KingCo Conference 4A competition Sept. 20 with a 3-0 victory against visiting Garfield. Skyline won the games, 25-13, 25-16, 25-17.
Madison Stoa had four blocks, 21 assists and three aces for Skyline. Teammate Halle Erdahl contributed 15 kills and 11 digs. Molly Mounsey added seven kills and three blocks for Skyline, 5-0 on the season.
In other action, Issaquah dropped a heartbreaker to host Inglemoor, 3-2. Issaquah won the opening game, 25-23, and then dropped the next two games, 25-18 and 25-14. The Eagles rallied in game four, 25-17. However, Inglemoor won the tie-breaker, 16-14.
Sam Rogers led Issaquah with 22 kills, 10 digs and five aces. McKenzie Bostic had 50 assists for the Eagles and Cassie Elenes had 12 kills. Lindsey Ferguson contributed 14 digs and 6 aces.
Issaquah suffered another tough loss Sept. 22 when the Eagles fell to visiting Bothell, 3-2. Issaquah won the first game, 25-12, but Bothell took the second game, 25-23. Issaquah won the third game, 25-20, but Bothell again came back to win the fourth game, 25-21. Bothell won the tie-breaker, 15-11.
Bostic had 49 assists for Issaquah. Rogers had a strong all-around match with 25 kills, three blocks, 17 digs and seven aces. Leanne Scott contributed 20 digs and Elenes had four blocks.
