Issaquah cross country team races by Ballard

NEW — 12:30 p.m. Sept. 29, 2011

The Issaquah High School girls cross country team remained unbeaten Wednesday when the Eagles flew by visiting Ballard 17-44 in a KingCo Conference 4A meet.

Issaquah, 5-0, captured five of the top six places and put eight runners into the top 10.

Freshman Ellie Hendrickson paced the Eagles by finishing first in the 3-mile race in 19 minutes, 24 seconds. It was her first varsity win. Issaquah’s Ellie Clawson and Rachel Osgood tied for second, each finishing in 19:27. Abby Wilson and Emily Winterstein, of Issaquah, were fifth and sixth. Amanda Chalfant, Nikita Sirohi and Abby Irwin went eighth, ninth and 10th respectively for Issaquah.

In the boys meet, Ballard defeated Issaquah 18-41. Tom Howe was Issaquah’s top runner, finishing third in 16:40.

Liberty  cross country teams fall to Interlake

Liberty High School’s cross country teams suffered their first losses of the KingCo Conference 3A/2A season Wednesday by getting beaten by host Interlake at Marymoor Park.

Interlake won the boys meet 22-37. Hiron Redman was Liberty’s top runner, taking third in 16 minutes, 54 seconds.

Interlake won the girls meet 24-31. Megan Chucka was Liberty’s top runner, placing fourth in 20:01.
