Issaquah girls basketball team goes 2-1 in tournament

The Issaquah girls had a 2-1 record last week in the Northwest Invitational Tournament at Southridge High School in Beaverton, Ore.

Issaquah dropped its season opener Dec. 1 when the Eagles lost to Central Catholic, of Portland, Ore., 70-52, in the first round. Ngozi Monu led the Eagles with 12 points. Mackenzie Wieburg added seven points.

Issaquah bounced back Dec. 2 to beat LaGrande, Ore., 65-41. The Eagles blew out LaGrande 20-4 in the first quarter and held a comfortable 34-10 halftime lead. Aimee Brakken and Mandie Hill each had 12 points to lead Issaquah. Wieburg and Monu each had 10 points.

On Dec. 3, Issaquah defeated Battle Ground, 66-30. Hill paced Issaquah with 18 points and Wieburg had nine points.
