Issaquah girls basketball team gets third consecutive win

The Issaquah High School girls basketball team stormed back in the second half Monday to defeat visiting Edmonds-Woodway 59-47 in a nonleague contest.
The victory was third third straight for Issaquah, which is 5-2 on the season.
Issaquah trailed by one point at halftime but outscored Edmonds-Woodway 19-11 in the third quarter to take command of the contest.
Mackenzie Wieburg, of Issaquah, led all players with 16 points. Teammates Monica Landdeck and Aimee Brakken scored 14 and 10 points respectively.
The Eagles, 1-1 in KingCo Conference 4A action, play at 6:30 p.m. at Eastlake on Friday.
In one league encounter Dec. 12, Eastlake nipped Newport 51-50. Kendra Morrison led Eastlake with 16 points.
Liberty boys fall to Mercer Island
The Liberty High School boys basketball team got off to a promising start Monday but could not keep up with host Mercer Island the rest of the way as the Patriots fell 68-44 in a KingCo Conference 3A/2A contest.
Liberty led 18-17 after the first quarter but Mercer Island surged ahead in the second quarter to lead 33-27 at halftime. The Islanders blew out Liberty 23-9 in the third quarter to pull away.
Tynan Gilmore, of Liberty, scored a game-high 17 points. BJ Demps added 10 points for the Patriots.
