Skyline girls basketball team clinches tie for division title

The Skyline High School girls basketball team clinched at least a tie for the KingCo Conference 4A Crest Division title Wednesday when the Spartans defeated host Eastlake 55-44.
Skyline improved its division-leading record to 10-3. The Spartans can clinch the division title Friday with a victory against winless Bothell. Issaquah, which has two games left, is in second place with an 8-4 record.
Eastlake, third in the division with a 7-5 record, entertained hopes of getting a share of the division crown. However, Skyline put away the Wolves in the fourth quarter with a 21-11 run.
Skyline’s Megan Wiedeman scored a game-high 17 points. Lacey Nicholson added seven points as the Spartans knocked off their two toughest contenders on back-to-back nights. On Jan. 31, Skyline defeated Issaquah 37-32.
Maggie Douglas led Eastlake with 10 points.
In other KingCo 4A action, Crown Division champion Woodinville routed Bothell 70-23 and Inglemoor topped Garfield 69-47.
Skyline boys keep on rolling
The Skyline High School boys basketball team, which has already secured the KingCo Conference 4A Crest Division title, got its ninth straight victory Wednesday by downing rival Eastlake 66-47.
Skyline, 12-1 in league play, got a tough battle from Eastlake in the first half. The teams were knotted at 33-all at halftime. The Spartans broke open the game in the third quarter by outscoring Eastlake 15-5.
Nick Kassuba, of Skyline, scored a game-high 20 points. Will Parker contributed 15 points and Lucas Shannon added 12 points.
Brandon Lester topped Eastlake with 14 points.
In other KingCo 4A action, Garfield locked up the Crown Division title with a 93-60 victory against Inglemoor, and Bothell defeated Woodinville 52-42.
