Darlene Abernathy, 68, and husband Jim raised their family in Issaquah and ran Abernathy’s Northwest Hobbies before retiring to Green Valley, Ariz.
Darlene passed May 11, 2012, after an extended illness.
Darlene is survived by her husband of 52 years, Jim; children Michael (Gina), of Sammamish, and Michele, of Green Valley; grandchildren Kendra, of Seattle, and Phoenix, of Sammamish; brothers Bruce (Janise) Shawcroft, Danny (Nell) Shawcroft, Jerry Shawcroft and Billy Shawcroft; sisters Kathy (Jerome) Parsons and Judy (George) Kelloff; numerous nieces and nephews; loving sister-in-law Annetta Osborn; and special companion Taffy.
She was preceded in death by her parents Amos and Margaret Shawcroft.
A private family memorial service will be held in Colorado this summer.
Darlene had a true passion for all animals. The family requests donations to The Animal League of Green Valley (Ariz.), or a charity that supports the humane treatment of animals, be made in her name.
