Cooks — and, perhaps, aspiring chefs and future television personalities — can compete to perform live at the Comcast Bite of Seattle.

Issaquah-based Festivals Inc. — producers of Bite of Seattle — invite cooks to enter the Bite Cooks! @ Home, a video contest. Entrants submit a short video to the Bite of Seattle website, showing off cooking and chatting skills as they prepare a dish to fit the event theme, “Fresh Northwest.”

The winner is then tapped to join Seattle’s best chefs onstage during the Bite of Seattle and receives a prize package, in addition to the chance to star in a live demonstration.

The contest is accepting entries until June 30. Entrants must submit videos of singles or duos preparing original recipes. Recipes should be easy to prepare within 20 minutes.

Entrants should then post videos to the Bite of Seattle website,, for the public to select a favorite video. The winner will then be chosen by a panel of Bite of Seattle judges, including chef Thierry Rautureau.

The event website includes the complete contest rules.

Bite of Seattle returns to the Seattle Center grounds July 20-22.
