Gladys Mackenzie

Gladys Mackenzie, of Issaquah, passed away at Evergreen Hospice in Kirkland on June 14, 2012.

Gladys was born May 17, 1918, in Elbridge, N.Y.  She was 94.

Gladys lived and worked in Fulton, N.Y., until she joined the Navy in 1944. While in the Navy, she met and married her soul mate, Kenneth Mackenzie, in 1946. They moved to this area and in 1955 built their home on Beaver Lake, where they raised two children.

Gladys loved life as it was filled with the love of Jesus Christ, overflowing with his gifts of peace, harmony, joyfulness and hope. A good and faithful servant to God, family and country, Gladys enriched lives through her kindness, giving spirit, compassion and determination. She was a member of the Community Church of Issaquah.

Gladys is survived by her son Mark MacKenzie (Gayle), of Roy; daughter Taryn Counts (Dennis), of Issaquah; brother Ernie Price, of Downers Grove, Ill.; six grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by Ken, her husband of 56 years, in 2003.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Community Church of Issaquah or your favorite charity.

Please come join the celebration of Gladys’ life on Saturday, June 23, at 11 a.m. at the Community Church of Issaquah.
