Students receive scholarships

The following local students received scholarships from the University of Idaho for the 2011-2012 academic year.

Issaquah: Alicia Hensen, Carly Overton, David Erickson, Jeffrey Crocker, Jessica Balbiani, Kelle Agassiz, Kevin Baker, Mary Cooper, Megan Gilchrist, Nathaniel Essex, Nikolaus Landdeck, Sean Erickson, Shoko Nelson, Spencer Johnson, Taylor Lundeen, Trevor Simpkins and Walter Bennett

Renton: Chad Dewan, Charles Herzog, Christopher Ohlinger, Stefan Richardson and Stephen Carras

Sammamish: Camille Gomez, Christopher Martin, Courtney Johnston, Erika Ikstrums, Jacob Hamilton, Jeffrey Discolo, Mike Brewster and Tyler Woods

Western Washington University student Teresa Micheletti, daughter of Joe and Tami Micheletti, of Issaquah, received a $1,250 Margaret Green Siegley scholarship for the 2012-13 academic year. The scholarship is awarded to incoming theatre arts students.

Local students graduate 

Shweta Kolhatkar, of    Issaquah, graduated with a Master of Science in physical therapy May 10 from MGH Institute of Health Professions, in Boston.

Sean Peterson, of Issaquah, graduated from the University of St. Thomas, in St. Paul, Minn., with a jurisprudence degree in law.

April Curtis, of Issaquah, graduated June 27 from St. Olaf College, in Northfield, Minn. She is a Russian and Russian area studies major. April, the daughter of Mark and Rebecca Curtis, was also awarded membership in Dobro Slovo.

Vincenza DiFranco, of Issaquah, graduated in May from Dominican University, in River Forest, Ill., with a master’s degree in education.

The following students from Issaquah graduated May 27 from Cornell University, in Ithaca, N.Y. — Amy Paull, Bachelor of Science, operational research and engineering; Elyssa Dixon, Bachelor of Science, environmental engineering

The following local students recently graduated from Montana State University, in Bozeman, Mont.

Issaquah: Kyle Fenn, Megan Schertin, Joseph Sheehan and Katherine Zajac

Sammamish: Stuart Forde, Kristine Leo and Reese Rankin

Christine Atkins, a 2006 graduate of Issaquah High School, was recently awarded a Master of Science, magna cum laude, in applied physics at Northern Arizona State University, in Flagstaff, Ariz.


Local students honored

Mike Magee, grandson of Stan Magee, of Issaquah, made the dean’s list at the University of Washington with a 3.8 grade point average for his junior year.

The following students have been named to the scholastic honor roll for the spring semester at Oregon State University, in Corvallis, Ore.:

Issaquah: Devin O’Donnell, Sarah Jacobi and Sarah Roberts

North Bend: Shanna Howland

Sammamish: Kyla Krueger, Kendall Liddle and Ashley McLaughlin

Cassidy Nangle, of Issaquah, and Stephanie Rehm, of North Bend, were named to the honor roll for the spring 2012 semester at the University of Oklahoma, in Norman, Ok.

The following students were named to the dean’s list for the spring 2012 quarter at Eastern Washington University, in Cheney:

Issaquah: Aaron Abolofia, Chole Barcus, Sharon Davis, Jay Deines, Travis Greene, Steven Kakoczky, Karie Mitchell and Shay Plunk

Renton: Lindsey Bryden, Kanisha Calcote, Ryan Colis, Keli Cresta, Rebecca Erb, Dane Fiedler, Lisa Harris, Kristin Mannari, Rachael Newton, Amanda Simington, Addison Tatman, Duong Vu, Andrew Warren and Callie Weber

Sammamish: Jase Butorac, Dallas Deremer, Courtney Duda, Danielle Garrido, Ashlee Harden, Cameron Lee, Emma Markham, Danielle Matthews, Bronte Pitzele, Jeffrey White and Kate Zopolos

Issaquah students John Herrington, Kelle Agassiz and Taylor Lundeen were named to the dean’s list for the spring semester at the University of Idaho, in Moscow, Idaho. To qualify, students must earn a 3.5 grade point average on a minimum of 10 graded credits.

Imran Jiwani, of Issaquah, was named to the spring 2012 dean’s list at Emory University, in Atlanta. To qualify, students must be in the top 20 percent or have about a 3.859 grade point average or higher.

Sherry Son, Mia Radic, and Nauchelle Martiniez, all of Issaquah, and Kaitlyn Tsutakawa, of Newcastle, were named to the spring 2012 semester dean’s list at Northwestern University, in Boston, Mass. To qualify, students must maintain a grade point average of 3.5 or above.

Faith Fowler, of Issaquah, has been named to the spring 2012 dean’s list at Hofstra University, in Hempstead, N.Y.

Danielle Dales, of Sammamish, was named to the 2012 spring semester dean’s list with a 4.0 grade point average.

The following local students were named to the spring 2012 dean’s list at the University of Oregon, in Eugene, Ore.:

Issaquah: Julia Loop and Hayden Meriwether

Sammamish: Nathan Dunnington, Morganne Hatfield, Lauren Hawkins, Samantha Stendal and Matthew Vileneuve

Thomas Elliot, of Issaquah, was named to the dean’s list at Pacific Lutheran University in, Parkland.

Kai Jandoc, of Issaquah, was named to the dean’s list at California Lutheran University, in Thousand Oaks, Calif.

Emily McCuen, of Issaquah, earned academic honors for the spring 2012 semester at Purdue University, in West Lafayette, Ind.
