The Field of Champions 14U Bears won their league championship July 9 after finishing 5-1 in the championship tournament.

The team was led by coaches George Fletcher and Tommy Brown, both of whom are Issaquah High School graduates.

“I would say the difference in the tournament was the pitching depth and our defense,” general manager Alan Patrick said. “Those were the two biggest strengths throughout the tournament.”

The Bears were faced with an extra game because of their draw, so the pitching depth provided them enough innings to overcome the challenge.

They won the championship game 4-3.

“It was a great game,” Patrick said. “A lot of offensive and defensive highlights. The cool thing about the tournament is that every single kid had a moment that was key to us progressing and winning the championship. So all 13 players contributed to the championship. It was a complete team effort.”
