Glenda Benson

Glenda Lea    Benson went home to be with the Lord on Aug. 12, 2012. She was a very unique, faithful servant of God, who was much loved by family, friends, and students.

“Born to teach,” Glenda passionately taught kindergarten children for 27 years. She taught at Eastside Christian Academy, Neighborhood Christian School and Eastside Christian School, where the library was dedicated in her name at her retirement. Glenda’s strong faith, optimism and integrity positively influenced hundreds of students and all who knew her.

On Feb. 11, 1942, in Tacoma, Glenda Lea  Benson was born to Glenn and Alice Fain. She married, Howard L. Benson, on Sept. 24, 1962. She has one son, Kevin Lane Benson.

She is survived by her son Kevin Benson, of Spokane; sister Rene’ LaMont and her husband Jim; and three nephews, Marc, Jason and Steven. She was preceded in death by her stepdaughter Joanie Benson, and her beloved husband Howard, who went home to be with the Lord on Dec. 6, 1998.

There will be a visitation at Flintoft’s Funeral Home on Friday, Aug. 17, from 5-8 p.m. A memorial service will be held at Eastgate Bible Fellowship in Bellevue on Saturday, Aug. 18, at 2 p.m. with a reception following.

In lieu of flowers, friends are invited to make donations to the Union Gospel Mission or Eastgate Bible Fellowship’s Mission Fund.
