Washington grocers want to know if the best bagger in the land is bagging up groceries in Issaquah.

Best Bagger Championship Finals organizers put out a call for contestants to compete in the annual bag-off. The event runs from 2:30-4:30 p.m. Oct. 25 at the Greater Tacoma Convention Center. The event is free and open to the public.

Baggers compete for $1,500 and a chance to head to the national bag-off in Las Vegas.

Contestants can enter the competition through Oct. 10. Find more details at the Washington Food Industry Association website, www.wa-food-ind.org.

In November 2010, Nathan Frerker, a cashier at the Issaquah Trader Joe’s, competed in the Best Bagger Championship Finals.
