With Twitter, WYSIWYG in 140 characters

With new skinny papers come new short Off The Press columns, 450 words max. Future is here. Better learn to tweet, too, max 140 characters!

Warren is great @ this, won big WNPA social media prize. Better get some tips from him. Don’t want to be left back by march of progress!

Someday will prob have to tweet for Press myself. To get a lot of thoughts in that limit is big challenge! Practice x 3! So far, WDY think?

H8 to misspell wrds to sav space. What about contractions? Leave out punctuation for dont, whats, cant? Better get ruling from the editor.

Googling ‘texting shortcut glossary.’ Results! Aha, netlingo.com should help. Big list! TIME doesnt mean time, it means ‘Tears In My Eyes’!

QL means quit laughing. WIIFM means whats in it for me. JTOL means just thinking out loud. AYCE means all you can eat. Acronyms galore!

Usually am late tech adopter. Just got cellphone with full keyboard in Sept. Only on Facebook abt a yr. Everyone there talks short & snappy!

U NK when Press will get iPad app either. Sooner rather than later? Prob LRTS. But I dont want to B old fogey. Being able to tweet is G2K.

B4YKI The Press could be tweeting all our news! Better figure out how to shoot my pix and vid and post in RT! U can B @ the story with me!

Heres a Q. R all U faithful readers tweeting and FBing? We have lots of Facebook likes. U will need to get a FB acct 2 keep up w/the news!

Gonna be working a hybrid news cycle of once a week plus 24/7. Do that in a 40 hr workweek? PLZ, YKM! No OT, TFS. Anyway, NYC. Our job, MIH!

How am I doing, are U following? Will be tweeting Issaquah lots. Your acronym choice? ISQ, QUAH, ISQH? Trick Q! Spell out for search engines!

Funny thing is, if U look at Issaquah Press 100 yr old, paper full of short news bits and few pictures. Full circle. Whoa! Learning JITNOT!

‘Just in the nick of time’ – made that last one up myself! Do U like it? Hope so, if I do good w/tweets it will contribute to job security!

Scary part is ‘Moby Dick,’ ‘War and Peace’ & ‘For Whom the Bell Tolls’ sitting on shelves getting dusty as attention spans atrophy to nada.

That should fill the word count today, IMHO. Got lot of xtra thinking in, IYSWIM. Passed Twitter 101! Maybe next class, grad level IM. TAFN!
