Skyline quarterback Max Browne is among the 16 high school seniors from across the country that were nominated Nov. 14 for 2013 U.S. Army Player of the Year.

According to a prepared statement by the Army, the award is given to the nation’s most outstanding senior high school football player.

Selection for the award began early this fall as players were evaluated by coaches from around the nation, as well as the U.S. Army All-American Bowl Selection Committee. The winner of this year’s top honor will be announced Jan. 4 in San Antonio, where he will be presented with the Ken Hall Trophy, modeled after Ken “Sugar Land Express” Hall, high school football’s all-time leading rusher.

The Army plans to announce the final six contenders Nov. 28.
