King County pet adoptions reach 2,500

Regional Animal Services of King County connected 2,500 pets and owners in 2012, officials announced Dec. 31, just before the curtain dropped on the year.

Laura Grieve, a Renton resident, adopted the 2,500th pet — a cat named Gaston — just before the Pet Adoption Center closed New Year’s Eve.

The public can learn more about the agency and see pets available for adoption at www.kingcounty.gov/pets.

The adoption closed a busy year. In April, King County Executive Dow Constantine selected Gene Mueller to lead the agency. Issaquah and 24 other cities renewed contracts for animal control. The contract went into effect Jan. 1 and runs through December 2015.
