Leaders in the home communities for the Seattle Seahawks and the Atlanta Falcons made a friendly wager before the teams clash on the gridiron.
King County Executive Dow Constantine and Fulton County, Ga., Chairman John Eaves each put iconic beverages on the outcome. Constantine put up coffee from local roasters, including Seattle-based Starbucks and several smaller companies. Eaves wagered a gift basket from Atlanta-based Coca-Cola.
“The whole region is excited for the game on Sunday, and I want to thank Chairman Eaves for joining me in this friendly wager to highlight our local companies, and our winning teams,” Constantine said in a statement. “Go Hawks!”
Constantine and Eaves made the wager via webcam Thursday, before the Falcons host the Seahawks at the Georgia Dome at 10 a.m. Jan. 13. The victor in the NFC divisional playoff advances to the NFC Championship, one game away from the Super Bowl.
“Fulton County and the entire metro Atlanta region are rooting for the Falcons and are proud of their efforts to make it to the playoffs,” Eaves said in a statement.”We are happy to join Executive Constantine in supporting our champions on the field and in business. Go Falcons!”
Before the Jan. 6 wild-card matchup between the Seahawks and the Washington Redskins, Constantine and Prince George’s County, Md., Executive Rushern Baker each put up a case of coffee on the outcome. Baker, as the loser, must also wear a Seahawks jersey to community service events through January.
