Former Issaquah High School swimming standout Gentry Gevers recently represented well in the prestigious University of Nevada, Las Vegas Invitational.

Gevers, engaging in one of his first events as part of the Concordia University squad, registered several personal best times in his collegiate debut and just missed several national qualifying times by hundredths of a second.

In his maiden voyage in collegiate competition, Gevers — a student at the Irvine, Calif., university — posted a time of 54.6 seconds in the 100-yard butterfly, and also recorded a strong showing in the 100-yard backstroke with 55.2 seconds.
