Booster club honors student athlete

The Issaquah High School Booster Club recently honored Hunter Sapienza with its Tutta Bella Scholar Athlete Award.

The award is given to a senior who has shown outstanding accomplishments as an athlete, as a student and in the community.

Sapienza has maintained a 4.0 grade point average while taking several Advanced Placement classes, along with honors and other advanced classes. He is a National Merit Semifinalist and an AP Scholar with Distinction.

He has volunteered in various capacities. He has helped tutor AP calculus students, assisted as a teacher’s aide at Clark Elementary School, and has organized and managed summer and winter training for the boys cross country team.

Sapienza has participated in cross country for four years, track for three years and has received the Most Improved Award in both sports.
