Two collegiate athletes with local roots received preseason honors ahead of their spring sports seasons.

Former Liberty High School star Chandler Tracy, a Saint Martin’s University catcher, was named to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association’s preseason first team all-west region. Tracy was the only sophomore named to the first team.

Last year, Tracy led the Saints with a .329 batting average, 53 hits and 40 runs scored, earning the Great Northwest Athletic Conference’s Freshman of the Year Award.

Dominican University of California lacrosse player Jake Fritz was named to the Western Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association’s preseason all-league team. Fritz, a sophomore out of Issaquah High School, started all 13 games for the Penguins last season.

Fritz’s 50 points led the league last year, while his 3.85 points per game was good for eighth in the nation at the Division II level.
