The familiar red, yellow and blue of the Miss Red Dot hydroplane was not present at the 2013 Oryx Cup UIM World Championship in Doha, Qatar, but that doesn’t mean that local crew, Our Gang Racing, wasn’t properly represented at the event.

Our Gang Racing, including driver Kip Brown, of Preston, competed as the 95 Spirit of Qatar team, donning the white-and-maroon colors of the Qatari flag.

Brown captured his first ever heat win for the Spirit of Qatar team, delighting the home crowd with a convincing performance, on Feb. 9.

“It is a great feeling to take my first heat win in the colors of the Spirit of Qatar team here in Doha Bay,” he said in a statement.

The Oryx Cup UIM World Championship is organized by the Qatar Marine Sports Federation which runs under the presidency of Sheikh Hassan bin Jabor Al-Thani, in conjunction with H1 Unlimited.
