Greenway Trust asks for helpful hikers

Trails need all the help they can get and the Mountains to Sound Greenway Trust wants to provide it.

Multiple volunteer opportunities are set to take place in the next few weeks, beginning with a day of Squak Mountain trail maintenance on March 23. From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., the Greenway Trust needs participants to clear away invasive species and continue the beautification of the local environment.

In the past decade, the nonprofit organization has been improving the old logging roads on the middle peak of the Issaquah Alps up to sustainable standards. Planners want the community to assist in the process.

They will offer additional volunteer opportunities on the following weekends for those unable to attend the March 23 outing. March 30, April 6 and April 13 will all contain different activities around the area, targeting specific sites in need of attention.

Space is limited and volunteers must register at mtsgreenway.org.
