Amendments adopted for Comp Plan

April 16, 2013

Land & Shore Committee Chairwoman Stacy Goodman proposed a number of amendments for Issaquah’s Comprehensive Plan at the April 1 regular City Council meeting.

Every year, the process to amend the plan begins with the establishment of a list of potential amendments. With state law limiting changes to once a year, the amendments are taken under consideration and then approved by the council.

Outside of annual updates, there were two new amendments and seven carryovers from 2012. Goodman recommended a high priority for a bike/pedestrian plan and an evaluation of the Klahanie potential annexation area.

As for a utility system update, sustainability targets, Issaquah Middle School unincorporated island annexation, community zoning district, McCarry Woods annexation, Human Services update and set the design standards within the Central Issaquah Plan, they were all carried over from last year to add to the larger Comprehensive Plan.

The council approved the amendments unanimously without discussion or questions.
