Five schools in the Issaquah School District are among this year’s recipients of the 2012 Achievement Awards, which the state Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction calls the state’s highest honor.

The awards are based on progress made from 2010 to 2012 using test scores, graduation rates and the shrinking of education gaps. This year, 381 schools are being recognized for being top performers in seven categories, including:

  • Overall Excellence: Discovery and Grand Ridge elementary schools and Beaver Lake Middle School
  • Science: Discovery and Sunset elementary schools
  • Math: Cascade Ridge and Discovery elementary schools

The award-winning schools will be honored during an award ceremony April 30 at Kentwood High School in Covington.
