Issaquah Christian Church starts Run with Faith

Putting faith in the efforts of Compassion House, the Issaquah Christian Church will hold a 5K fun run April 27.
The Run with Faith race will mark the church’s first endeavor at an exercise-based fundraising event. They invite those interested to register and meet at the church at 10 a.m. to join in an effort to support Compassion House.
A growing relationship between the two organizations is what sparked the consideration for the race.
“Volunteers from the church have been with the house for months,” Race Director Doug Nast said. “We’ve also wanted to be more involved with the community.”
Compassion House, serving the Issaquah community since 1998, offers faith-based temporary housing and restorative services for transitioning families. Through financial guidance, family healing, counseling and mentoring, such families are able to make use of the area’s resources to get their lives back on track and resolve issues that prevent a productive and independent lifestyle.
The idea for a race was one that Issaquah Christian Church leaders had thought about for a while.
“We kicked the idea around for a couple of years,” Nast said. “I don’t expect our first 5K to be very big. It will be a low-key thing, kind of informal.”
The race will wind around streets that surround the church and behind Issaquah High School, with water stations along the way.
Registration fee is $21, which includes an event T-shirt or $13 to register without getting a T-shirt. There will be race-day registration, but it will be $25 with a T-shirt to be mailed afterward, and $18 without. Additional donations will be accepted during the event.
Issaquah Christian Church is at 10328 Issaquah-Hobart Road S.E. Learn more by calling 392-5848 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
