Barbara Ristedt

Barbara Ristedt obituaryBarbara Jean Ristedt, born Aug. 27, 1948, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to the late Henry P. Ristedt and Barbara A. Thayer, and died peacefully after a lengthy battle with cancer on the 28th of May at the Ebeid hospice facility in Sylvania, Ohio.

Barb raised her family in Washington state, working in the dental industry for many years. She finished her career working for Verizon Wireless/ as a leasing manager for cellular tower sites and store locations in Bellevue. After her final cancer diagnosis five years ago, she relocated to Ohio to be near her grandchildren.

Barb took great joy in working in the garden and tending to her flower beds, spreading a special mulch that smelled of fresh chocolate, and growing fresh mint for her ice tea. She also enjoyed decorating her home, changing things on a weekly basis, much to the chagrin of her children who were often asked to help move this or that. Barb always had a smile on her face and was quick to compliment, even when dealing with her final illness.

She is survived by her daughter Kimberly, of Toledo; son Peter (Debbe) Ball, of Zurich, Switzerland; grandchildren Cailen, of Toledo, and Mackenzie and Dylan, of Zurich, Switzerland; and sister Christine Ristedt, niece Amy, and nephew David (Jaime) Ristedt, all of California.

A private service will be held at a later date. The family wishes that any contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, Susan G Komen Foundation or to the Ebeid Hospice Facility, Toledo, Ohio, in her name.

Mom…you are missed each moment of every day! I miss you and I am struggling to move forward without you. I can only hope to be the amazing and brave woman you were during this long battle with cancer. I will continue to make you proud and I know you will be at my side cheering me on.

    Love you!

I don’t know if you will read this or not as it has been a years since your Mother passed. But I believe we are related. My Mother was ( Pancreatic cancer 2005) Georganne Dunshee as was briefly married to Henry Piney Ristedt, who I understand is also deceased.
I have no wish to disturb your family, but I would be interested in some info on my birthfather, I have been told that he was adopted so they may not be much to know . I will understand if yo have no wish to be in contact, but if at all possible a photo of him would be nice. My email ( whole commuter in fact) is very unreliable at the moment so snail mail would be best or phone. (846-659-9226 ) Ill.
