The city’s flags will be lowered to half-staff Thursday in memory of Washington State Patrol Trooper Sean O’Connell, who was killed in the line of duty May 31.

Flags will remain at half-staff until close of business or sunset on June 6 or the morning of June 7, according to a news release from the city.

Other government entities, citizens and businesses are encouraged to join in the recognition.

O’Connell was killed in a traffic accident. A memorial service for him is at 1 p.m. June 6 at the Comcast Center in Everett.
