NEW — 6 a.m. June 19, 2013

The public is invited to an open house and town hall meeting June 19 with elected leaders from cities and the county to learn more about critical infrastructure needs for roads, bridges, highways and transit service.

The state Legislature continues to seek common ground on transportation funding. Without a solution, cuts loom for local roads, bridges and Metro bus service – potentially worsening congestion and delaying improvements needed to keep the region moving, according to a press release from the county.

An open house and comment period is from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., followed by a moderated panel discussion from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Bellevue City Hall, 450 110th Ave. N.E.

Elected leaders from Bellevue, Auburn, Kenmore, Kirkland, Mercer Island, Sammamish and King County are expected to speak.

Send questions to the panel by emailing or through Twitter to @kcroads or @kcmetrobus. Join the conversation on Twitter using #TransFuture.

The meeting is co-hosted by the Sound Cities Association, the city of Bellevue and King County.

I am pleased we are looking into solutions for our growing populations, speciifically on the Eastside. 10 years ago it took me 10 minutes to go from Sammamish to 520, now its more like 30 minutes. We have all but given up on going downtown as it can take HOURS, yes HOURS, especially on the weekends.
Please look to find solutions to our conjestion before we look at moving.
    Thank you for your consideration
    Lance Baumann.
