April Curtis honored at St. Olaf College

April Curtis, of Issaquah, was recognized for academic achievement at St. Olaf College on May 3 during the college’s annual Honor’s Day convocation. Curtis also received a Fulbright Scholarship.

She will teach English in a secondary school in Sofia, Bulgaria, and research Bulgarian folk dancing.

In order to be recognized at Honor’s Day, a student must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.6 or higher.

Curtis, the daughter of Mark and Rebecca Curtis, is a 2008 graduate of Eastside Catholic High School and a 2012 graduate of St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota.


Thomas Haffner presents at conference

Thomas Haffner, of Issaquah, presented research at the 2013 Whitman Undergraduate Conference in Walla Walla. The project was titled “Evaluation of ISBER Best Practices for Biorepositories.” Haffner is a junior studying biochemistry, biophysics and molecular biology at Whitman College.

The following students graduated from Oregon State University, in Corvallis, Ore., on June 15.
