Sena Camarata, the dean of students at Hazen High School, will join the staff at Skyline High School as an assistant principal July 1.

Camarata recently earned her principal certification and a graduate degree in educational leadership from the University of Washington. Skyline Principal Lisa Hechtman said in a press release that Camarata has been “instrumental in coordinating and leading professional development, helping teachers make their lessons more accessible and rigorous for all students.”

Camarata also teaches science at Hazen. She spent several years working as a biochemist and teaching advanced science classes.

Camarata will replace Andrea McCormick, who is taking the principal’s job at Issaquah High School.
