Issaquah police apprehended two suspects thought to be behind a string of Eastside liquor store burglaries July 21.
Officers said they arrested a 39-year-old Seattle woman and an 18-year-old SeaTac man during a traffic stop as they attempted to flee from a recent theft in town.
Detective Diego Zanella said a helpful store employee called police after recognizing the pair, who had targeted QFC and Safeway stores in Issaquah, Kirkland and Redmond.
“We had a bulletin out for their arrest,” he said, “and they were identified by the story employee.”
Upon arrest, he said police found 30 bottles in the vehicle.
Zanella said the suspects’ names were not being released due to the ongoing investigation.
“She was basically the ring leader,” he said of the Seattle woman.
Zanella said the woman could have possibly had more accomplices in the thefts and police do not want to give up too much information as the investigation continues.
Zanella said that should the suspects be convicted, it was unclear what penalties they face.
“I’m not sure about that because it’s a felony and it depends on the loss,” he said, meaning the amount that was stolen. “It might change a lot.”
The suspects were booked into the King County Jail for organized retail theft. The case is under investigation by the Issaquah Police Department.
