Democrats host candidate forum for 41st district seat
August 13, 2013
The 41st District Democrats are hosting a moderated candidate forum for individuals seeking the appointment to State Rep. Marcie Maxwell’s vacated seat.
Five candidates seeking the appointment will participate in the candidate forum from 7-9 p.m. Aug. 14 at the King County Library Services Center, 960 Newport Way N.W.
There will be a 30-minute public meet-and-greet opportunity before the candidate forum. The candidate forum will be attended by the 41st District Democrats Precinct Committee Officers, members of the 41st District Democrats organization and the general public. All are welcome to attend this public forum.
“Since Marcie Maxwell has resigned as our state representative, there will be a meeting conducted by KCDCC of 41st District PCOs to nominate three persons to fill this vacancy. The King County Council will subsequently choose one of the three as the appointee or, in the event of council deadlock, the governor will do so,” 41st District Democrats Chairwoman Karol Brown said in a press release.
“The meeting of the PCOs to nominate appointees will be Aug. 21, sometime after 7 p.m., to be conducted during a recess in the 41st regular general meeting at Eastshore Unitarian. Only elected and appointed PCOs will be eligible to vote. Other district residents should contact their PCOs concerning their preferences.”
Any 41st District resident interested in running for the position should call Brown at 206-419-1027.
