City offers new afternoon preschool class

By Staff

The city has opened registration for a new afternoon preschool class during the 2013-2014 school year.

The class is open to 3-year-olds, and takes place at the Issaquah Community Center, 301 Rainier Blvd. S. The class will be from 12:30-3 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. The school year begins Sept. 5.

The preschool program has addressed the need for a community-based, part-time preschool for the past 16 years. It promotes three main goals: socialization, cooperation and enhanced listening skills. There are also opportunities for intellectual, physical, social and emotional growth in order to be ready for kindergarten.

Though there are only open spaces available in the 3-year-old class, waitlists are forming for the 4-year-old and Pre-K classes provided by the city. Classes for 3-year-olds cost $178 per month, while classes for 4-year-olds and Pre-K are $232 per month.

Register at https://iplay.issaquahwa.gov/Start/Start.asp or call 837-3300. Walk-in registration is also available at the community center.
