“Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will make you fishers of men.” Matthew 4:19

Lawrence Douglas Callaway, indeed a fisher of men — and women, children, people of all ages — was happiest preaching the word of God and spending time with his beloved family. He was also an accomplished fisherman, outdoorsman, and great friend and mentor to many.

Born June 12, 1949, in Houston, Texas, Lawrence, also known as Brandy, left his earth suit behind to be with the Lord on Aug. 20, 2013, at Evergreen Hospice Center in Kirkland.

For 30 years, he was a devoted evangelist and a pastor for 20 of those years. Also an entrepreneur, for the past 10 years he owned Amazing Kettle Corn.

He is survived by his wife Ruth Marie D. Callaway; sisters Barbara Adams, Patricia Bermingham and Constance Callaway; son Justin Brandon Callaway; daughters JoDee Michelle Taylor and Daria Douglas Brown; and 11 grandchildren, with another on the way.

A celebration of life service will be at 4 p.m. Sept. 6 at Eastridge Church, Issaquah.
