Local student graduates from international campus

Andrew Napier, 23, of Issaquah, graduated Summa Cum Laude from Berklee College of Music’s first international campus in Valencia, Spain, with a Master of Arts in scoring for film, television and video games on Aug. 27.

Napier was among the first graduating class of Berklee’s Valencia campus, and was one of just 20 students to receive the degree.

Napier was one of 74 international students from 26 countries to attend one of three masters programs at the Valencia campus. After graduation, Napier relocated to Los Angeles to pursue his music career.

Nicholas Co completes Navy program

Navy Midshipman Nicholas K. Co, a 2013 graduate of Issaquah High School, has completed Plebe Summer at the U.S. Naval Academy.

Plebe Summer is a program designed to prepare new students, or “plebes,” for their first year at the Naval Academy, and is run by specially trained upper-level midshipmen.

Co is the son of Judith and Dickson Co, of Issaquah. He is expected to graduate from the Naval Academy in 2017.


Local student named to dean’s list

Emily McCuen, of Issaquah, was named to the dean’s list at Purdue University for the spring 2013 semester.


Local student serves as WOW leader

Bridget Rowe, of Renton, is currently serving as a Week of Welcome leader at Dordt College, in Sioux Center, Iowa.

WOW leaders help freshmen find their way around campus, give them resources for academic advising and put on fun events like talent shows and slip-n-slides to welcome them to college.

Rowe is a junior pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in art, with an emphasis on fine arts studio and social work.
