Jack McLaughlin, of Allyn, Wash., passed away suddenly and peacefully on Sunday, Sept. 1, 2013, at age 71.
Jack was born in Glen Cove, Nassau County, N.Y. His family relocated to Washington state when Jack was 16. He and Babs (Barbara) were married in 1972 in Issaquah, and lived in east King County until 1998, when they retired to LakeLand Village in Allyn.
Jack had a very fulfilling career with the city of Renton Fire Department, retiring as a battalion chief in 1995. He loved golf, Budweiser, cribbage, his much-loved dog Katy, playing pool, a good novel, Italian food, FOX news, “Diners, Dives, & Drive-ins,” and especially his Gold Dollar Boys and golf and cribbage buddies at LakeLand Village.
Jack is survived by his wife of the family home in Allyn, stepson Scott (Kat), and daughters Lisa (Joe), Jackie (Rob), Denise (John) and Kristin (Skip). He was very proud of his grandchildren Joseph, Jacob, Jordan, Jayme, Kayla, Lauren and Alex. Jack is also survived by siblings Dan (Dayde), of Kirkland, Linda (John), of Shelton, and Shari (Jon), of Everett.
A celebration of Jack’s life will be held Sunday, Sept. 29, 2013, at 2 p.m. at the LakeLand Village Community Club in Allyn. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to a favorite charity, or Autism Speaks, or NMCCC Food for Kids, P.O. Box 1331, Belfair, WA 98528.
