Host families to host a high-schooler from Ecuador are being sought in the Issaquah area by The Rotary Club of Issaquah. The young man is a student ambassador for Rotary’s Youth Exchange program, an international program of the service club.

The student will be placed in several families throughout the course of the year to experience American culture from different family perspectives. Additional families are needed to help share this experience by opening their home for a few months to this student.

The Rotary Youth Exchange program relies on volunteer host families to help promote the program that promotes understanding among cultures and peace throughout the world.

If you have an interest in learning more and possibly becoming a host family, call Craig Nelsen at 206-419-7777.

For students here who are interested in living abroad as an exchange student, the application period is now open for exchanges to be conducted next year. There is a summer (short term exchange) program during the summer of 2014, and the school-year program for 2014-15 is seeking applicants. Students should be adaptable, reliable and currently a sophomore or junior in a local high school.
