A 36-year-old Issaquah resident, Kristine L. Espindola, rode shotgun in a high-speed police chase that ended in a fiery crash Nov. 8.

A 47-year-old Bellevue man allegedly led troopers on a chase on Interstate 90 before wrecking his 2013 Porsche Panamera into a building on Mercer Island.

Reports from the Washington State Patrol say Peter E. Kern fled from troopers while speeding in the eastbound express lanes of I-90 at about 11:30 p.m.

The vehicle caught fire. WSP states the fire was contained to the Porsche. The luxury vehicle, valued at $79,000 or more, was totaled. Espindola and Kern were transported to Overlake Medical Center. Kern was arrested for vehicular assault. The WSP report says drugs and alcohol were involved in the incident.
