Get free native plants

December 3, 2013

By Staff

Find free, native plants for your garden, yard or restoration project at plant salvage events from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dec. 7 and 14 in the Issaquah Highlands.

The plants will be salvaged from a site before it is cleared for development.

These native plants are adapted to the Pacific Northwest climate. They require less watering, are more resistant to disease, and offer improved habitat for birds and wildlife.

To reach the site from Interstate 90 and Highlands Drive Northeast, turn right on Northeast Discovery Drive, and then left on 10th Avenue Northeast. Then, take the first right on Northeast Falls Drive and look for signs.

Bring your own hand tools and plant containers. All materials must be removed from the site each day after the salvage.

Attendees must sign a release form. Anybody younger than 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Learn more by emailing peterr@issaquahwa.gov or calling Environmental Planner Peter Rosen at 837-3094.
