How do you think the recent focus on bullying has affected the issue?

“I definitely think the focus is a positive thing, because schools don’t seem to focus much on teaching kids to be good people otherwise.”

Wooyang Son, senior

“I’m not sure of the effect it has had on eliminating bullying, but it’s certainly increased awareness about its dangers and consequences.”

 Henry Pratt, junior

“Yes, it is still a really big issue that affects a lot of people, but with all of the new resources available, I think that it’ll be less of a problem than it has been or could have been.”

 Taylor Jackson, junior

“I’ve certainly seen people be cruel to others for no good reason, but bullies only affect people if they are allowed to. I think people should focus more on how to be happy, despite the nasty things people say, because that other person’s opinion doesn’t matter.”

 Jacqueline Rayfield, sophomore

It has definitely made a significant impact on the student population; however, I don’t think it’s proportional to the amount of effort that’s dedicated to it. It’s working, though!

 Arjun Kumar, sophomore

Now that it is openly spoken about and confronted, I feel like people are more willing to intervene if they see an act of bullying. With the increasing focus on it, I think everybody has realized that it needs to be a community effort if we plan on actually putting an end to it.
