Harry “Gaylord” Meeks, of Seattle, died on Dec. 22, 2013. He was 73 years of age.
A committal service with military honors will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday Jan. 8, 2014, at Tahoma National Cemetery.
Gaylord was born on Sept. 18, 1940, in Lackawanna, N.Y., the son of Harry and Evelyn Meeks. He graduated from Issaquah High School in 1959. He went to the University of Washington for three years.
He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1965. He spent two years at Fort Meade in Maryland teaching computers. After the Army, he spent about 15 years going to several colleges and universities. Gaylord spent the rest of his life reading books at libraries in Seattle.
Survivors include his brother Larry (Susan) Meeks, of Issaquah; three nephews, Richard (Jennifer) Meeks, of Maple Valley, Randy, of Issaquah, and Ryan (Bernice), of Renton; one niece, Kelly Meeks, of Issaquah; and five grandnieces, Rachel, Alyssa, Lillian, Kiera and Emily.
