The former Kellman mansion, located behind the Sammamish Library on 228th Avenue Southeast and now owned by the city of Sammamish, underwent the final burn and demolition Jan. 13 after being used for six weeks by Eastside Fire & Rescue in practical, hands-on training exercises. The home sat in limbo while renovation expenses were discussed after the city bought the property in 2006, and the new community center will be built on the site, with construction slated to start later this year.
