More than one way to community unity

The community is still riding high on the wave of anticipation and celebration of Seahawks glory. It created a new wave of Northwest unity unlike anything in recent memory. Hold on to that feeling!

Coming up is another thriller — the 2014 Olympic Games, beginning Feb. 6. The pride of America grows with every gold medal earned and won in Sochi, Russia.

But let’s not miss out on another opportunity to make a difference in the esprit de corps right here at home. All you have to do is vote. It’s easy, it’s patriotic, it’s essential. And it unites us all.

No matter the outcome, together we have reached a decision. Join in! Return your ballot by Feb. 11, by mail or in the ballot drop box in front of Issaquah City Hall, 130 E. Sunset Way.

A recap of our recommendations:

Klahanie annexation: Sammamish offers a better alternative. Vote no on annexing to Issaquah.

School levies: All three levies deserve a resounding yes vote. Say yes to continuing the maintenance and operations levy, yes to the one-year transportation levy for school buses, and yes to the levy that will fund building repairs and technology upgrades.

Issaquah plastic bag ban: Vote no, do not repeal the year-old plastic bag ban. Let the city ordinance stand — for a more beautiful Issaquah.

The plastic bag ban and bag fee are total eco-fads. It hurts instead of help the environment. It is just feel-good, look-good eco-fads.
