Issaquah City Councilman Tola Marts is named Elected Official of the Week

The Sound Cities Association named Issaquah City Councilman Tola Marts the Elected Official of the Week.

The decision was announced Feb. 10 in a press release from the organization, which represents 36 cities in King County. It credited Marts’ leadership, vision and commitment to making a difference in people’s lives, locally and around the world.

Marts concurrently works as a research scientist and senior mechanical engineer at Intellectual Ventures Laboratory, helping  to develop vaccine technology for use in Africa.

He has been actively involved with the Issaquah School District since 2005. Marts won his 2009 City Council campaign and served as council president in 2012.

The Sound Cities Association began the Elected Official of the Week award to highlight what the organization believes are accomplished people who serve the cities of King County.
