Emergency response classes start soon

March 4, 2014

By Staff

When a disaster occurs, professional emergency services personnel will not be able to help everybody immediately.

That means ordinary citizens make a difference. Join more than 300 people in the community who have already completed training for a Community Emergency Response Team.

CERT training is designed to prepare citizens in the event of a disaster. Registration is now open for the spring session.

The program includes a weekly evening course from 6:30-9:30 p.m. Wednesdays, from March 19 through May 3, that culminates with a hands-on disaster simulation drill.

A $35 fee covers course materials and a basic emergency backpack kit.

Learn the basics of personal preparedness, how to use a fire extinguisher, triage injuries and perform basic trauma first aid.

Classes usually fill up quickly. Register and learn more at www.issaquahcitizencorps.org.
