Skyline High School hired Jason Jones as its new athletic director March 1, replacing outgoing Ryan Gilbert, who left to take a position with a youth camp in Bellevue.

Jones was an interim athletic director at Cleveland High School in Seattle during the 2006-07 school year. He has since coached in Sammamish as part of the Skyline Select seventh-grade boys feeder program.

Jones grew up in Seattle and is a 1987 graduate of Garfield High School, where he played basketball on back-to-back state title-winning teams. He went on to earn degrees from Edmonds Community College and the University of Washington.

Jones said in an email that he’s looking to deliver a positive athletic experience to Skyline students through “education, mental preparation, physical fitness and academic assistance.”
