Isabella Gomez, a 12-year-old Issaquah resident, earned second place overall at the United States of America Snowboard Association 25th Annual Nationals Tournament.

The competition, held March 29 through April 4 in Copper Mountain, Colo., brings the country’s best snowboarders together. Isabella competed in the Breaker Girls (12-13) age division.

During the event, Isabella had the opportunity to compete in the Open Class Women Banked Slalom with Olympian Lindsey Jacobellis. She held her own, impressing with a time that was just a few seconds shy of competitors twice her age.

This is Isabella’s fifth national tournament. She placed first overall in 2013 and 2011 and second overall in 2012. The Issaquah resident hopes to one day compete in the Olympics.
