Drugs are available worldwide to countless people, but are they available to students in high school as well?
For students at Liberty High School, it’s not that easy to get them. School resource officer Dave Montalvo is Liberty’s most important measure against unsafe drug usage among students.
Montalvo patrols school parking lots and helps students through an online Q & A found on Liberty’s homepage. Montalvo’s mission is “to develop a partnership between law enforcement and the school community that provides a safe environment in which teachers, students, parents and the community can fulfill the mission and goals of the school district.”
Health classes at Liberty go in depth about how to combat the use of drugs and the dangers that accompany their use.
Liberty students are subject to search if there is reason to believe they may be holding illegal drugs or substances on school grounds; students found guilty are handled by administrators, as well as Montalvo.
