Eastside Baby Corner will open its doors to visitors May 5 to show the community how its nearly-all-volunteer team fills more than 1,000 individual orders, helping more than 500 kids, each week.
The 5:30-7:30 p.m. open house is a day before GiveBIG, the Seattle Foundation’s annual fundraising event for Puget Sound-area nonprofits.
Eastside Baby Corner hopes the opportunity will help the public better understand the organization’s mission and the impact that donations, like those given during GiveBIG, have on it.
The open house consists of two volunteer shifts. During the early shift, visitors will get to see volunteers fill clothing bundles for almost 200 children, and during the second, volunteers sort, fold and put away clothing in preparation for the next week.
Eastside Baby Corner helps kids thrive by providing basic necessities for children. The organization has participated in GiveBIG since its inception in 2011. Its facility is at 1510 N.W. Maple St.
