The East-King School Retirees’ Association recently presented grants to a pair of Issaquah School District teachers.

Jane Brammer, a kindergarten teacher at Issaquah Valley Elementary School, will receive money to purchase “Reading Like a Writer” mentor texts for her classroom.

Colleen Maher, who teaches in the learning resource center at Pine Lake Middle School, was awarded a grant to purchase sensory devices for special-needs students.

The East-King association, affiliated with the Washington State School Retirees’ Association, has more than 430 members who raise money year round for active educators in need of extra funding for projects and programs.
