Local voters will have to choose candidates in two primaries in August.
King County candidate filing week ended May 16 with contested spots for local legislative district races.
In the state Legislature, Rep. Chad Magendanz (R-5th) seeks re-election after his first term against one of the two Democrats who filed to run against him.
David Spring, who Magendanz defeated for the position two years ago, and newcomer Colin J. Alexander will run in the Aug. 5 primary. The winner will vie for the state seat in the general election. Ryan Dean Burkett also joined the contest for Magendanz’s seat with no party preference given.
At the federal level, incumbent Rep. Dave Reichert (R-8th) drew two Democratic challengers. Jason Ritchie, of Issaquah, and Keith Arnold, of Auburn, will run in the primary.
Also in the state Legislature, longtime Rep. Jay Rodne (R-5th) will face Democratic challenger and Issaquah-resident Essie Hicks in the Nov. 4 general election.
Rep. Judy Clibborn (D-41st) will run for re-election against Alex O’Neil, who did not identify a party affiliation.
